Two movies - Gems that must be watched

After a long time watched two movies this weekend that really touched me... 'Peepli Live' and 'Udaan'... neither of the movies are the typical bollywood extravaganzas with big stars or item numbers or foreign locations... but both the movies are made with soul... simple movies that speak volumes...both the movies are totally different so I cant say which one I liked better... loved them both...

Peepli Live is such a beautiful satire... makes us laugh at so many places but along with the laughs we get to really see about the problems faced by the farmers, how the vote-thirsty, publicity-hunting politicians actually work and how the media is now all about TRPs and sensationalizing news and have absolutely no feelings or care for the situation the protagonist is in... The movie is in similar vein to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron... wherein humor is used to throw light on some real social issues... but then I am too big a fan of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron ever since I remember to actually compare both the movies :)

Udaan was a totally different experience... story of a teenager who finally breaks away from all the shackles and flies away to live the dream he dreams... the kid is part of a dysfunctional family where the fathers way of caring for his kids is to become too controlling, too much of a disciplinarian and at times even abusive... the casting for the movie was perfect... the father was so strict and so dangerously abusive at times, that I could not relate to the father at all and was thanking my stars for the wonderful parents I have... I guess that speaks in itself about how well Ronit Roy played the father's character... Rajat Barmecha, who plays the lead Rohan, is a delight to watch, a complete natural... the dynamics of the father-son relationship is really something... but what really touched me was the change in Rohan towards his younger step-brother Arjun... a step-brother he had no clue even existed while he was away for 8 years in a boarding school... Rohan starts off as a bit of a bully towards Arjun then as the movie proceeds he really comes to care for the little brother... Have to add Ram Kapoor as the uncle was also very good... He really was the perfect Chachu who empathized, loved and cared for the kids.. the movies storyline is simple, uncomplicated but it has been made so beautifully that it keeps us glued onto the screen right till the end... makes us feel like we are part of the journey that Rohan goes through... loved it....

Hope

I guess its one of those days when I want to just put words on paper... or rather put words on my blog :) Few words were just floating around in my head and heres what i came up with :)...

Look outside and you'll see
The beauty in all things around
Birds, clouds, grass and trees
Things of all shapes and sounds

The crisp morning air brings so much hope
That today will be a promising day
But we should remember that once in a while
There are bound to be some dismays

Life in general have you ever realized
Is a series of events one has to face
The good, the bad and everything, is a part
Of this beautiful journey that leaves you in a daze

What has to happen will always do
No matter how hard you try to stay away
Take everything in your stride and always remember
Tomorrow's new sunlight will bring in a new shining day

Back Again...

Been so long... somehow was not getting back to blogging after the enthusiastic start... guess in some things I end up behaving like a typical Gemini... all excited to start something new but, how can I put it, its not like I lose interest but somehow just forget about it and find something else to occupy me :) recently its been reading, watching movies, cooking, trying to see what I can do with the manual controls of our camera, following photography blogs and what not... I had always been an avid reader right from my my childhood ... my mother never tires of telling people that she had to literally take the books away from my hand and force-feed me at times :) but in between had somehow lost the patience and couldn't really find time for it... used to get books from the library and return them with just having read a few pages... now have found my interest in reading once again and maybe a bit too much... end up reading into the wee hours of the morning... sleep is hence one thing I am not getting enough of... and I have never been a person who could nap during the day so maybe its time I checked this habit of mine a bit... and ya my hubby dear is almost always working from home so the days just fly away... so meanwhile I completely forgot that I had wanted to try my hand at blogging :)

Past few months life has been going on as usual... smooth with nothing happening out of the ordinary... well, not that I am complaining... life had been hectic with so many changes for the 7-8 months before we came back to the States that I guess I am enjoying this leisurely pace and this calmness... theres something really serene and comforting about things just going on 'as usual' after months of it being terribly hectic... I don't know when I will get bored of this but as of now enjoying it :)

Few friends got engaged in these few months and am totally enjoying seeing the massive change in them with the first rush of love making them the person I had no idea they could be :) I wish them all a beautiful life with all my heart... :) there's something really sweet about seeing people who have just fallen in love :)

Well, been just rambling in this post I guess... no head or tail :) doesn't matter atleast i got back to my blog after what seems like ages.. hopefully will not forget about this for a while... or atleast until I find something new to keep me busy :D

Ciao
